Isopods

Isopods are very similar in care and requirements to a lot of millipedes and in fact often inhabit similar environments. Isopods are actually crustaceans and found both in water and on land. As pets we tend to keep the land isopods which are available in a huge range of types and colours which amount many are almost becoming collectible. Some species produce really well in captivity and large colonies are maintained very quickly. Others present more a challenge to keepers as their requirements are very specific. Often used as a custodian in vivaria, meaning they are part of a clean up crew of invertebrates recycling all the waste products of the main inhabitant.
